The Joy Farmer

The Joy Farmer is an artisan cut flower farm growing treasured garden blooms for florists and flower lovers.  It belongs to Sarah Rutherford and is found on her family’s high-country sheep and beef farm at the bottom of the Lindis Valley in Tarras, Central Otago.   

Growing and gardening is a new endeavour for Sarah who left a corporate career as an accountant, returning to the mountains and her rural roots in Wanaka. Recently she discovered cut flower growing and was lucky to be surrounded by family and friends who kindly shared their knowledge and plants.

TJF grows a small amount of a broad variety of flowers and foliage throughout the seasons. The varieties grown are curated based their beauty, texture, and ability to thrive in the local environment, with a focus on bulbs, perennials, and shrubs.
